Natural Wood Floor

Nothing can compare to the feel of a natural wood floor when it comes to enhancing your home. The flooring fitted can be either solid wood flooring or real wood engineered flooring.

For those looking for a high quality and natural product then solid wood flooring is the perfect choice. Solid wood flooring can be applied to an existing timber floor or on a concrete sub-floor. On an existing timber floor it is recommend that the solid wood flooring be secret nailed. A moisture barrier can be put in between the existing timber floor and the new solid wood flooring. On an existing screed or concrete sub-floor, it is recommended that the sold wood flooring be glued down with a suitable flexible flooring adhesive. Once again, a suitable paintable damp proof membrane can be fitted in between the sub-floor and the new solid wood floor.

Solid wood flooring is not recommended for use with underfloor heating.

Real wood engineered flooring is produced with a veneers of the wood fitted to a plywood type base. Engineered flooring is recommended when underfloor heating is present. Engineered flooring is a popular choice due to its resistance to movement due to temperature changes, particularly relevant in rooms with underfloor heating. A recommended way of fitting engineered ‘click joint’ flooring is to have this ‘floating’ on a foam underlay that is laid on the sub-floor. This works for both timber and concrete/screed sub-floors.
